HAPPENINGS AROUND TOWN:
In town this weekend we had an 80s Live Music Night, a Sand Sculpting Contest and the opening of the Whoa Zone.

Lora & Kathleen
Friday night my friend Kathleen who owns the Junkyard T-Shirt Shop hosted a 80s Live Music Night. Back in the day, her and I went to several concerts together, and we still love our 80s music. Our town has a small band shelter off the main street, the band performing was called the Breakfast Club. They mainly played 80s music, but being that it was a diverse crowd, they also threw in some other stuff too. It was packed, the weather was beautiful and I ran into a couple of old friends, so it was a good night over all.

Kathleen had a couple of costume changes, I thought the Risky Business outfit was clever, (she had shorts on underneath) and she was also dressed like Prince by the end of the night. They had a costume contest, where this guy, dressed up like Boy George was among the contestants, and the Doc from Back to the Future. Had I not had to work, I was going to let my big hair down and join in the fun, but that would have taken some time, lol. I did wear my Choose Life shirt though 😉

This is the second year that we had the Sand Sculpting Contest, but it just hasn’t taken off yet, not a lot of participation. There was a professional sculptor out there, they dumped 10 tons of new sand, and this is the sculpture he created.

Also on Saturday, the Whoa Zone opened on the lake. It was a pretty cool day, so there weren’t a lot of people on the lake, the water is still pretty cold, but I know this will probably attract a lot of people on those really hot days.

ON MY PLAYLIST:
I have way too many favorite 80s songs, but here are two of my favorites!!

training center for the little kids all located on our main street. So many people commented on Ben’s costume (it must be the muscles) and the little kids were drawn to him too, giving him high fives and this mini bat man wanting to take a picture with him. There were several people dressed like Spiderman, I wanted to gather them all up for a pic, but that wasn’t possible.
