Happy Homemaker Monday 11.20.17

Good Evening!!  It’s late, but it’s still Monday. 😀 I have two big bookkeeping projects I am working on, so that is what is occupying my time.  Along with planning for Thanksgiving, and figuring out when we’ll get the Christmas decorations up, once Thanksgiving is over.  Looks like Friday will be in the 50’s, so since I am in charge of exterior illumination, I need to take advantage of the nice weather.

Wishing everyone a wonderfully Happy Thanksgiving!!

RECIPE TO SHARE:

This is one of the side dishes I make for Thanksgiving day, that my kids absolutely love.

Homemade Mac-n-Cheese

3 T buter

¼ c flour

1 t. salt

½ t. dry mustard

¼ t. pepper

2 ½ c milk

2 c cheddar cheese

1 c mozzarella cheese

1 box elbow macaroni (16 oz.)

Cook macaroni per box instructions.

In large saucepan, melt butter over low hear.  Stir in flour, salt, mustard and pepper until smoth; take off heat.  Little by little, stir in milk until smooth.  Stir constantly for 10 minutes on heat until thick.  Lower heat stir in cheddar cheese, velveeta cheese, and mozzarella cheese until melted.  Mix in cooked macaroni.

Pour into greased casserole dish.  Sprinkle paprika over the top.  Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.

WHAT’S HAPPENING:

I have also been working on two of my stories.  There’s another Word Weaver Writing Contest for November.  Since I couldn’t decide on which one to choose from, I will be entering both.  There’s still time, the theme is “Relationships.”  Yep, right up my alley 😀  If you’re a writer, this is a fantastic opportunity, there are some really good prizes, and working with Dan is a lot of fun.  He has also added two more “celebrity” judges.  You can find all the information here.

Good Afternoon!!  I missed last week, as I was recouping from a stomach virus.  Ugh!!  It hit the whole house, but it’s that time of year.  Hopefully we will be healthy for the holidays, as we have had the cold/flu here already too.  We did get our first sight of snow, but it barely left a trace, so I really don’t consider that the first snow, lol.  Looking forward to those first couple of inches with those big beautiful fluffy flakes.

Hope everyone has a great week.  Stay warm and stay healthy!!

RECIPE I’D LIKE TO TRY:

Breakfast Sausage Sliders.  I have been doing breakfast for dinner lately making pancakes, eggs and sausage.  These look really good too, I don’t think I would use the Monterey Jack cheese though, that seems too cheesy for me.

 WHAT’S HAPPENING:

Not much is going on.  I’ve spent the last week getting caught up on stuff.  With the holidays coming, our town will have it’s usual holiday parade, and all the decorations will be going up around town.  Recently a new coffee shop opened up, which we have needed in our town for some time.  It’s actually just a block away from me, so I can walk on over and enjoy the atmosphere, and a nice cup of joe.  My oldest son has been wanting to write screen plays, so he goes over there to do his writing, and I’ve been doing some writing there as well.  We both agree it has a bit of a “Friends” vibe to it.

Good Evening!!   These weeks are flying by, we are having some really warm weather this week, but not complaining.  Trying to get out on my bike as much as I can before it gets too cold. As much as I am looking forward to snow, I’m not looking forward to cold and flu season.  Already I’ve had sniffly kids here. Of course, my kids aren’t little, but age doesn’t matter when kids are sick, lol.  Hope everyone is doing well.

WHAT’S HAPPENING:

Friday night I walked over to the little band shelter we have a few blocks away in our downtown area.  There was a concert by The Howl Experience.  It’s an all request dueling piano show.  The weather was beautiful, and again a lot of people came out.  Only in a small town can they block off part of the street for a concert.  Always nice to get out and see old friends.

It has been so much fun to be a part of this whole book experience.  Basically it has gone from conception to completed product in a very short time.  The release date is October 1, but if you pre-order before then, there is a bonus story from Dan Alatorre included in the Kindle download version only.  Also, the paperback is now available to order!!  I will be placing my order this week.  I cannot wait to have the book in my hand!!  And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, we just got word that a BIG name in writing wants to receive a review copy to be considered for The Best Horror of the Year.  It’s an annual compendium of the critically acclaimed editor’s selections of horror fiction.  Even though horror is not my genre of choice, this is still exciting news!! So if you or anyone you know loves some scary stories, grab a copy and share the link!!

Good Evening!!   Hope everyone is doing well. Our weather has been cooler out here, but looks like we can get some warm weather yet. This week my twins will be celebrating their 22nd Birthday, that is hard to believe, wasn’t I just 22 like last year? 😀

WHAT’S HAPPENING:

Some time ago, I had posted that my friend Kathleen was raising money and shaving her head for St. Balderick’s Children’s Cancer Research.  Well, she raised over $4000 and one of our local stylists shaved her head while Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” and P!nk’s “So What” blasted through the speakers, totally fitting for Kathleen.

If you missed my separate post last week,  I will share my news with you here.  One of my stories will be featured in an Anthology of scary stories to be released October 1.  Here is the link to pre-order your copy today.  Right now, the kindle version is available, but the paperback will be following shortly.  I am totally excited about this!!

Good Afternoon!!  I’m back!!  I missed last week’s Monday’s post.  I had been working on a writing project, and the weekend just got away from me.  Then Monday rolled around, and I just didn’t get to it.  But such is life.  Though the writing project has lead to some exciting news I will be sharing in the next couple of days!!  Not much excitement over here, just trying to get my schedule organized with school and the freelance bookkeeping work I have acquired.  Hope everyone is doing well.

FAVORITE PIC FROM THE CAMERA:

This is our latest addition to our little yard nook.  My mom wanted a pic to send to her friend, so I just went out there one day and took a pic.  But I love how the sun is shining down.  Since then we added the blue stones to it, and I’ve wanted to try and recapture the shot, but have not been able to.
