It was a very hot weekend, so I stayed in and enjoyed the AC. I did sit out in the yard for a while as my youngest son ran through the sprinkler, which was watering our somewhat burnt grass 😦 With the Chicago Air Show this weekend going on, we had several fly-overs of some really cool planes, as they use our airspace over the lake to turn around and head back to the Gary Airport. Actually on Friday morning, we saw two Blue Angels fly over very low, and we got a good look at them as they went by. We also felt the roaring of the jets since they were so low. The Air Show is probably pretty awesome, but heat and crowds for me don’t mix, I catch the recap on TV 🙂 Have a great week everyone!!

THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS:
No rain yet today, but we need it. I have been reading the articles predicting lots of snow for this winter, hope they are right!! Yeah I said it…the S word!!
CURRENTLY READING/HAVE READ:
Haven’t started anything new, but you can read my full review of First and Goal by Jake Byrne here.
NEW RECIPE I TRIED OR WANT TO TRY THIS WEEK:
OK, so this is a first, I am sharing this recipe with you all, it’s a brand new recipe from a possibly up and coming chef, (or maybe just a guy who will never go hungry, lol). My youngest son concocted this all on his own the other night when he wanted a snack. I give to you The…
Cinnamon Chocolate Pack
1 loaf white bread, crusts removed
Chocolate Chips (4 for each slice of bread)
¾ Cup Melted butter
1 Cup Sugar
1½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix cinnamon and Sugar together in a bowl. Flatten bread with a rolling-pin. In the middle of the bread, line the 4 chocolate chips in a line, trying not to get too close to the edge. Roll slice of bread up, jelly roll style. Dip in melted butter, then in cinnamon and sugar mixture. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
While baking make the Glaze.
Glaze
1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
Mix all together until smooth. Take rolls from oven let cool slightly, then drizzle over each roll.
They are actually pretty good, I like the chocolate and cinnamon flavors together. They do resemble another recipe I made with different ingredients, but hey, I applaud his ingenuity. 🙂
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:
Hopefully the Sidewalk Chalk drawing contest won’t get rained out on Saturday. I was mistaken on one of my other posts about the Murder Mystery at the library; that will be in September. This is my final week of summer, we will be starting school on next Monday.
